If I use Scion of the Ur-Dragon 's ability and pump it up with Moltensteel Dragon then....

While its on the stack change it too a different dragon will it keep the pump up from firebreathing from when it was moltensteel? My friend runs this combo and showed me articles about it, but nothing credible. I say that even on the card moltensteel dragon it says "moltensteel dragon has +1/+0 till end of turn" when he uses scions ability again while it's on the stack it changes to a different dragon like atarka. So me and my friends say it does not keep the pump. But not sure how it works. Any one have any advice. Also sorry I don't remember how to link the cards.

It is possible, yes, so long as it's being performed correctly. The short explanation is understanding how layers work in Magic.
Basically how effects interacts with each other is down to "layers" as they are called. To determine what an object looks like, you tack on effects one at a time until you get to the final product.
Copy effects such as the one from Scion are applied in layer 1 which is applied first and then the rest is tacked on top of that.
In layer 7 you have a bunch of sublayers to handle power and toughness. Layer 7c in particular is interesting because it isn't until then that effects which modify power and toughness are applied. By this time the game has already looked at the base P/T and then applies the pump from moltensteel on top of that since it is still the same object even if it happens to copy another dragon.
