If I make someone discard a creature card and I have Grave Betrayal on the field, do I get the creature?

Like, if I were to play a Mind Rot and they discarded a creature would Grave Betrayal 's ability trigger. I don't think it would because it doesn't die, but I was just uncertain.

You are correct, Grave Betrayal would only trigger when a creature died, not when a creature card is discarded.

"Dies" means literally "is put into a graveyard from the battlefield". So no, it doesn't work because the creature is put into the graveyard from the hand, not the battlefield.

kfcl neither of those cards have any real interactions with each other, in fact Undead Alchemist would exile any creatures you killed and give you a zombie token before Grave Betrayal has a chance to activate.

@Demarge

Undead Alchemist only exiles creatures that go to the graveyard straight from the library, not from the battlefield, so those still get reanimated by Grave Betrayal , therefore they are mutually exclusive. Admittedly, though, it still doesn't affect discarded creatures.
