If I cascade into an artifact spell, do I have to pay an extra 2 mana if my opponent has Aura of Silence out?

I was playing a game last night and this came up. i played Maelstrom Wanderer and cascaded into a sol ring while my opponent had an Aura of Silence out. He says i can't cast it because i needed to pay the additional cost. i believe him, but i need a little more explaination why. same thing happened later when i tried to use a hideaway land to play another artifact. let me know if its true for both examples.

Cascade says you can cast the spell without paying it's mana cost, meaning the cost printed in the upper-right corner of the card. Any additional costs will still have to be paid, like those imposed by Aura of Silence , ones already built-in like on Fling , etc.
