How MDFC instant and sorceryies work with flashback?
Asked by pedroedmarcos 3 years ago
Hey there,
Its pretty straight foward: Let's say that I have Lier, Disciple of the Drowned on the battlefield, can I cast a mdfc card like Echoing Equation ? Or do I only have the choice of casting if it is in my hand?
It is, but if they didn't do it that way there would be a ton of game-breaking weirdness that could ensue. They actually had to change how cascade worked recently (like on Violent Outburst) because it was letting you cascade into Valki, God of Lies Flip and cast it as Tibalt, Cosmic Impostor for free on turn 2 or 3.

Unfortunately, no. When not in play, an MDFC only has the characteristics of its front face, so it's not an "instant and sorcery card," unless you're considering something like Spikefield Hazard Flip.
An ability that says "you may cast instant and sorcery spells from your graveyard," like Jaya Ballard, is different (Jaya's ultimate would let you cast Echoing Equation from the grave).
