How does trample work with protection

I.e. Worldspine Wurm gets blocked by True-Name Nemesis

Same way it works with indestructible.

Trample cares about damage assignment. You just have to assign damage that would be lethal to each blocker before you can assign any damage to the defending player. Damage assignment doesn't care about replacement effects that modify how damage is dealt, nor does it care about prevention effects. You take into account only damage marked on each creature and whether the attacker has deathtouch (because deathtouch changes lethal damage).

Worldspine Wurm would need to assign at least 1 damage to True-Name Nemesis before it could assign any damage to the defending player. Even though the 1 damage would be prevented, Worldspine Wurm will still deal the rest to the defending player.

I always thought since it wouldn't die, it wouldn't trample over either

@greyninja: That's incorrect, but it's a common misconception. Trample only cares about damage assignment. Once damage is assigned, it's dealt that way. What actually happens to the damage that would be dealt to True-Name Nemesis is irrelevant at that point. Also, remember that all assigned damage is dealt simultaneously, regardless of the damage assignment order.

ahhh, so it's the damage that WOULD be lethal is assigned, then the rest tramples over to the player or planeswalker
