how does Possibility Storm work?

Asked by GlissasTraitor 10 years ago

I know if I cast a sorcery then I get a socery same with instants and so forth but what about creatures? Say I cast a beast, then would the card I search for also have to be a beast? Or can it be any creature?

All cards are spells as well until they resolve. So, every creature is in fact a creature spell for the purposes of Possibility Storm. Thus you will exile your creature that you cast and resolve the creature you find while revealing from the top of your deck. As per gatherer:

4/15/2013: Artifact, creature, enchantment, instant, land, planeswalker, sorcery, and tribal are card types. Two cards share a card type if they have at least one card type in common.

There are eight different card types: Creature, Land, Instant, Sorcery, Enchantment, Planeswalker, Artifact and Tribal. Only seven of these can be cast (lands can only be played). Creature types (such as Beast, Wizard, etc.) are not card types, as they fall under a lower category known as a subtype.

Whenever someone casts a spell that is of one of the seven castable types, the Possibility Storm will trigger, causing that player to exile the spell. That player will reveal cards from the top of their library until they reveal a card that shares at least one type with the exiled card. If you are casting an Arcbound Ravager , for example, the Possibility Storm will reveal cards untill it hits an artifact or creature (possibly an artifact creature), and then you may cast that card without paying its mana cost. If the card you cast is only of a single type, you will just reveal until you hit a card that shares its type.

GlistenerAgent thats what I thought but I was confused as I watched somebody mill his entire deck just to get to the 1 other elf that he had. This confused me. Thanks for clearing this up.
