How does Jin-Gitaxias, Core Augur work with discard?

Ok so I'm looking into getting Jin-Gitaxias, Core Augur for my edh deck and was wondering how his ability interacts with the discard step because previously i thought it was start end step then discard then end of end step
Because of this my question is do I need to discard any number of cards over seven I am after Jin-Gitaxias, Core Augur's ability triggers assuming no replacement for the discard step such as Reliquary Tower or Kruphix, God of Horizons?

"Discard step" isn't a thing; the ending phase consists of the end step and the cleanup step. During the cleanup step, the active player discards down to his or her maximum hand size, until-EOT effects wear off, damage is removed from permanents, etc.
Jin-Gitaxias, Core Augur's ability doesn't get around the cleanup step. You'll always discard down to your maximum hand size at the very end of your turn.
