how does Chalice of the Void interact with mana cost

example chalice has 1 counter on it and i cast Repeal on Wurmcoil Engine

202.3b When calculating the converted mana cost of an object with {X} in its mana cost, X is treated as 0 while the object is not on the stack, and X is treated as the number chosen for it while the object is on the stack.
So once they cast the spell Chalice of the Void will then trigger. So the CMC for Chalice is based on the chosen X for the card, since the CMC isn't determined and Chalice isn't triggered until the spell on the stack.

When an X spell is on the stack, its CMC is its mana cost plus the X value. Any where other than the stack the CMC is just the mana cost. Repeal would be a 1 CMC spell in your deck, graveyard, hand, etc, and the spell would be 1 + X while on the stack.
So Repeal where X = 1 will not be countered by Chalice of the Void with 1 counter on it because Repeals current CMC is 2.
