How does apostle's blessing work exactly?
Asked by Alylio 7 years ago
Let's say I have a glistener elf out, and 2 mana.I tap one mana for Apostle's, declare green, and try to pump it with Might of Old Krosa.
What will happen, will Krosa simply fizzle out?
Question 2:I have a glistener elf enchanted with Spider Umbra.Once again I cast Apostle's on it and declare green.
Does my Umbra get removed?

To start with, protection deals with the following, which can be remembered by the acronym: DEBT.
D - Cannot be damaged.
E - Cannot be Enchanted or Equipped (or fortified)
B - Cannot be blocked.
T - Cannot be targeted.
To answer question 1, there are four situations that can occur.
Situation 1: You cast Might of Old Krosa and let it resolve, then cast Apostle's Blessing. This would work--Might of Old Krosa has already given its boon by the time your creature becomes protected.
Situation 2: You cast Apostle's Blessing and let it resolve. You can no longer target your creature with Might of Old Krosa.
Situation 3: You cast Apostle's Blessing, and then cast Might of Old Krosa while Apostle's Blessing is on the stack. Might is still legal to cast, as your creature does not have protection. Might resolves first, since it was second on the stack, giving the creature its benefits. At this time, your creature does not have protection. Only after, your Apostle's resolves, giving your creature protection.
Situation 4: You cast Might of Old Krosa, then cast Apostle's Blessing while Might is on the stack. Might is still legal to cast, as your creature does not have protection at this time. Apostle's resolves first, giving your creature protection. Spells cast legality of targeting twice--when cast, and when resolved. Since your creature now has protection, Might can no longer target it, and will fail.
Question 2: Your enchantment will fall off and go to the graveyard as a state based action, as your creature now has protection, and thus cannot be enchanted.
