How do Lord of Extinction and the Mimeoplasm Interact?

Asked by DemonDragonJ 8 years ago

I am planning to eventually build a green/black/blue EDH deck, with The Mimeoplasm as the general and Lord of Extinction as one of the other creatures in that deck, but before I begin the construction of that deck, I must first know how those two creatures interact with each other.

I know that LoE's power and toughness are the same in all zones, so I wish to utilize that trait to make the Mimeoplasm extremely powerful.

For the sake of this question, I shall use a very simple example: presume that there are three cards in each of two player's graveyards, one of which is a Lord of Extinction and one of which is a Seacoast Drake. The LoE shall be a 6/6, because there are six cards total in all graveyards. If I summon the Mimeoplasm, having it enter the battle field as a copy of seacoast drake with a number of +1/+1 counters on it equal to LoE's power, what shall the Mimeoplasm's power and toughness be? Will it have six +1/+1 counters and be a 7/9, as I hope, or shall it be less than that?

The Mimeoplasm calculates the number of counters after the cards are exiled, which means that Lord of Extinction's power will go down by 2 for the removal of Lord of Extinction and Seacoast Drake from graveyards.

You'll get a 1/3 with four +1/+1 counters.

Thank you very much; I shall admit that I am disappointed by that answer, but it shall not be difficult to wait until there are a large number of cards in all graveyards before I execute that combo, to make it most effective.
