Hive Mind is out. ink-treader nephilhim and other creatures are out. If I Fling the nephilhim do the copies cause each player to sacrifice their creatures or do copies of spells not care about costs?

In other words will fling act as a board wipe? I'm thinking Personal Sanctuary could be funny in this scenario.

Copying an object on the stack makes it so that an additional instance of it just appears on the stack. No costs need to be paid.

No one else will have to sac any creatures. When you copy a spell you don't have to pay any costs for it. All the copies will think that Ink-Treader Nephilim was saced for them.

So you'll play Fling targeting Ink-Treader Nephalim

Then, Ink-Treader's triggered ability triggers and copies Fling targeting all other creatures it could legally target (ie: All your other creatures) and Hive Mind also triggers copying the Fling to which you sacrificed Ink-Treader.

So you sacrifice every creature you control, and deal damage equal to their powers to whichever targets you chose, and all other players get 1 single free fling for 3.

Basically, since you pay the additional cost to put the spell on the stack in the first place, and the rest of the rules text uses a queried value from that additional cost, the actual spell that Hive Mind is copying essentially says

Fling
1R
Instant

Fling deals damage equal to 3 to target creature or player

@Devonin: I think the Ink-Treader Nephilim was sac'd to the Fling , not targeted. This would only cause the Hive Mind to make copies, and not trigger the Ink-Treader Nephilim . Even in your situation, you would not end up sacing all your creatures, since, just like you said, each Fling will deal 3 damage.

if the Ink-Treader Nephilim was the target of Fling , and not the creature sac'd, then each creature would be targeted by a copy of Fling (all for the same amount) and each other player would control a copy of Fling as well.

Devonin: Sacrificing Ink-Treader Nephilim to pay Fling 's cost doesn't target the Nephilhim so it won't copy due to the Nephilhim's ability. If he were to sac another creature and target his own Nephilhim, then it would copy for the rest, which could effectively be a board wipe if he sacs a big enough creature, but then takes the risk of all opponents targetting him with their Hive Mind copies with enough damage to kill him.

Ah, no you're right. I just assumed, given the fact that Ink-treader would be the example given that we were doing this in a way that involved the Ink Treader's ability, or why not just pick Storm Crow as the example.

If you sacrifice random creature A) to TARGET the Ink-Treader as the target of Fling, the rest would work as I described above.

And given that they said "Ink-treader and other creatures are out" I think -they- might think that too.

Actually, you can target the Nephlim and sacrifice it to Fling . Choosing targets precedes paying costs in the casting process, so you can target your own creature with Fling and sacrifice it to pay the additional cost.

I've never thought of playing Fling that way. That just gave me a possible new deck idea I might have to work on lol

You CAN do what Absinthman says... but Fling won't resolve because its target is illegal. :P

The copies are put on the stack on top of Fling so they will resolve before the original so you would still get the intended result.
