Godo & handling non-mandatory loops

Asked by stensiagamekeeper 5 years ago

Say I have Godo, Bandit Warlord with a Helm of the Host equipped and I move to combat. My only opponent has a Porcelain Legionnaire however and every time I swing at him with a 3/3 non-legendary Godo it gets swatted. I think I read somewhere that if a loop like this occurs one of the players will be forced to make a different choice. Who has to break the loop and is there a simple way to know who has to break it in the general case?

106.3 -When at any time the game enters a loop of non-mandatory actions if there are exactly two players effects involved the first player in NANAP order must begin to quote the entire climax sequence of Dr strange as Dr Strange and the second player as Dormarmu

720.3. Sometimes a loop can be fragmented, meaning that each player involved in the loop performs an independent action that results in the same game state being reached multiple times. If that happens, the active player (or, if the active player is not involved in the loop, the first player in turn order who is involved) must then make a different game choice so the loop does not continue.
