gilded lotus if not all mana is used
Asked by miel94 12 years ago
If u use 2 mana of gilded lotus in ur turn, can u use the 1 mana that u didnt use in ur opponents turn to cast a 1 mana instant?
Thx in advance :)
TheOne4221 is incorrect.
At the end of each step or phase, mana empties from your mana pool. If you tap Gilded Lotus to add 3 Blue mana to your mana pool in your Main Phase 1, cast a Wingcrafter , and then announce that you're moving into your combat phase, then that mana is now gone forever.
Similarly, you can't "save" mana from your turn for use on your opponent's turn. Some cards are obviously exceptions to this rule (i.e. Omnath, Locus of Mana ), but all cards follow this rule unless they specifically say so.

your mana pool empties at the end of every step.
106.4. When an effect produces mana, that mana goes into a players mana pool. From there, it can be used to pay costs immediately, or it can stay in the players mana pool. Each players mana pool empties at the end of each step and phase.

Mana empties from your mana pool as steps and phases end, your turn and opponents' turns alike. That's why cards like Omnath, Locus of Mana and Upwelling are so unique.

Well let's look at the wording of Gilded Lotus
"Add three mana of any one color to your mana pool" The way I see it, if you have left over mana from the Lotus, you can use it during your opponents turn because it does not specifically say 'until end of turn' in the effect.
