General Summoning Sickness Question

Asked by jkilla4rilla 14 years ago

So, if a creature comes onto the battlefield due to a creatures ability such as, [Sheoldred, Wispering One] does that creature have summoning sickness..Also, if a spell is played that gives you control of an opponents creature, does that creature have summoning sickness?

Yes, any creature that enters the battlefield has summoning sickness (including tokens) unless the card specifically says othewise (like, the tokens created by Hero of Bladehold have "summoning sickness" but . If you take control of an opponent's creature during your turn, unless the card specifically says that it gives that creature haste (like Act of Treason ) then it also has "summoning sickness"

The ruling about "summoning sickness" is here:

212.3f A creatures activated ability with the tap symbol or the untap symbol in its activation cost cant be played unless the creature has been under its controllers control since the start of his or her most recent turn. A creature cant attack unless it has been under its controllers control since the start of his or her most recent turn. This rule is informally called the summoning sickness rule. Ignore this rule for creatures with haste
Since it specifies "under its controller's control", it also applies to "stolen" creatures.
