Flashback Question

Asked by GlimmerKing 12 years ago

How does flashback work with X cost cards?

For example: I tap Dralnu, Lich Lord to have Curse of the Swine gain flashback until end of turn. Do I still get to pay X?

yes. the 'X" value is still a part of the CMC... so you still get to pay it.. and since flashback is a different instance of playing the card you can change the value of "X" to something else.. It does not have to be what "X" was the first time. hope this helped!

It works the way you want it to. When you choose to pay the alternate cost, you'll also choose a value for X. Devil's Play works like this.

You choose X when you pay a cost that has X in it. Because the flashback cost granted by Dralnu, Lich Lord is equal to the mana cost of the card, Curse of the Swine 's flashback cost is XUU. You're paying an X cost, so you choose what X is.
