Experiment Kraj + Planeswalkers

I heard that if you find a way to turn planeswalkers into creatures (e.g. March of the Machines + Mycosynth Lattice), and then give them a counter with Experiment Kraj, then it can use their loyalty abilities. Does this work? And do you still need to remove the appropriate amount of loyalty counters to activate a loyalty ability?

It would work fine.

Loyalty abilities are activated abilities, and the cost is either add or remove loyalty counters on the permanent with said abilities.

Kraj will have 0 loyalty counters on him, so in order to use the "ult" or "-" abilities you must first accumulate loyalty counters on Kraj by using the "+" ability.

Note that the abilities can only be used once a turn still, even though Kraj isn't a planeswalker himself.
