Double commanders with partner?
Asked by zerowner 8 years ago
Because of partners wording, I can run two of the same commander, correct? Unless there's a rule against that.
The creatures, including Commanders, are still subject to the legendary rule. Of course, lets not forget that Commander is a singleton format as well, with few exceptions.
- 704.5k If a player controls two or more legendary permanents with the same name, that player chooses one of them, and the rest are put into their owners graveyards. This is called the legend rule.

No, no matter how sweet double Reyhan, Last of the Abzan would be:
903.5. Each Commander deck is subject to the following deck construction rules.
903.5a Each deck must contain exactly 100 cards, including its commander.
903.5b Other than basic lands, each card in a Commander deck must have a different English name.
Can't have as second copy of your commander in the zone or the 98.

Not to mention you can't have more than 1 of any card in a commander deck, so you shouldn't even be able to have two, and only use 1 as a commander.

Unfortunately not. The singleton rule of commander still applies.
