Please link your cards, formatting guide at the bottom.

A multicolored permanent is considered all the colors in its casting cost. So Alms Beast is both black and white. It wouldn't be a legal target for Doom Blade .

Any aspect of a spell or permanent does not negate other aspects of that spell or permanent. Alms Beast being also white does not make it nonblack, which is to say, it can't be both black and nonblack at the same time. Just as while most enchantments are not creatures, enchantment creatures (barring being played for bestow cost, which would make them not creatures) can't be both a creature and a noncreature at the same time.

Doom Blade is a card that looks for a negative trait (NOT this or NOT these) by looking for something that is NOT black. Alms Beast has black in its casting cost, therefore it is black. While this makes it an illegal target for Doom Blade , it makes it a legal target for Dark Betrayal , which looks for a positive trait (IS this or IS these).
