Does Sundial of the Infinite and Final Fortune+Isochron Scepter grants me Infinite Turns?
Asked by jotjot 11 years ago
I imprint Final Fortune to Isochron Scepter , and Sundial of the Infinite is already on the battlefield. I activate isochron anytime before my end step, so it is out on the stack, then resolved it. I get and extra turn and I loc=se the game at the beginning of my end step. Now the stack is empty. Then my end step occurs, Final Fortune's effect (At the beginning of end step, I lose the game) is put on the stack as a Delayed Trigger Ability, I responded by activating Sundial. All spells and abilities are exiled, thus i do not lose the game and i get to keep Final Fortune's (Take an extra turn) leaving me with infinite turns. Is this correct?

Actually, you don even need to let the game loss go on the sack. Sundial of the Infinite skips the end step entirely. Just activate the scepter any time during the extra turn to take another, then before the end step, activate the sundial. There is no need to stack abilities or triggers

So you are saying that Final Fortune has two parts:part #1.) Take an extra turn. and part #2.) At the beginning of end step, I lose the game.At the time i cast/activate final fortune, I get those 2 effects, then when my end step occurs only part #2 goes on the stack, then I respond with Sundial. Exiling the ability and granting me the part#1 which is to take an extra turn. Is this correct?

Final Fortune and most other effects that grant extra turns do just that, they grant extra turns. Getting an extra turn doesn't put that turn on the stack or anything like that, it just means that after this turn, instead of moving to another players turn, you start your turn again. None of that depends on the stack or when your turn ends. So as long as FF resolves you will have an extra turn.
The second part of FF is a delayed trigger that triggers at your end step, which you can avoid nicely by using Sundial of the Infinite any time before that trigger resolves or even before it triggers.
TL;DR yes, it works how you want

I own Sundial of the Infinite and Isochron Scepter and I'm confused about how I could explain this to my friends if I decided to buy Final Fortune. (Warning: Dumb MTG Player alert. Warning: What the hell is the stack?)

Yes, you get infinite turns, provided that you activate the scepter on the extra turn after you activate the sundial. You would have to let the game loss go on the stack, then the sundial, and then the scepter. Once they all resolve, the copy of final fortune is in effect, the turn ended, and the new one began, untapping all lands and the scepter and sundial.
