Does Prince of Thralls have a replacement effect?
Asked by Yesterday 3 years ago
I was playing on MTGO and controlled a Prince of Thralls . An opponent owned and controlled a nontoken creature enchanted with a Kaya's Ghostform they also owned and controlled, and the creature died. They paid 3 life twice for each of my Prince's triggers, then didn't get an opportunity to return the creature with the Ghostform's ability.
I know Prince doesn't have standard replacement effect wording, but I'm not sure why else the creature wouldn't have returned.
what happen how to trigger work

That definitely sounds like a bug to me.
To break things down, when the creature Ghostform is attached to dies, both Ghostform and Prince will trigger and go on the stack, the order they end up in depends on APNAP order, and thus who the active player is. If it's during your turn, Prince will go on the stack first, then Ghostform, meaning Ghostform would resolve first, and vice versa if it was the opponent's turn.
In the former case, they shouldn't even have to pay the 3 life, as the creature will already be returned under their control before Prince even resolves. In the later case, after paying the 3 life Ghostform should resolve normally.
