Does No Mercy destroy creatures that deal damage with abilities?

If a creature has an ability, like "tap, deal 1 damage to target player" would that creature be destroyed by No Mercy if they targeted me and I had No Mercy on my battlefield?

Yes. Because No Mercy doesn't specify "combat damage", that means it will be triggered by any damage dealt by a creature.

No Mercy will even destroy creatures you control that deal damage to you, such as Pestilence Demon, but will ignore creatures that cause you to just lose life, such as Acolyte of Xathrid.
