Does Dig Through Time trigger Miracle?

Asked by Liszt 9 years ago

Can I use Dig Through Time in my opponent's turn to put Terminus into my hand and then play it for it's miracle cost? It doesn't really say "draw" in Dig Through Time's text so I'm not sure.

Nope. Dig Through Time doesn't draw any cards.

Although the end result is effectively the same, drawing a card and putting a card into your hand are different game actions. Effects that trigger when you draw a card do not trigger for cards put into your hand. Also, an effect only causes you to draw a card if it has the word "draw" in its text.

Dig Through Time does not draw you any cards, so it does not trigger miracle. It's worth noting, however, that, for the same reason, it doesn't count against you for your first card drawn on a turn, so if you draw a card later and it's your first draw of the turn, you can get that card's miracle trigger if there is one.

Just realized that Terminus isn't an instant so my play wouldn't have worked out either way. But thanks for the fast reply.

Miracle ignores timing restrictions. Otherwise it wouldn't do anything because the miracle ability is still on the stack at the time you are asked to cast the miracle card.

So I can use Azorius Charm in that regard?

And is it usefull playing 2x Terminus in a U/W Control Deck when there are 4x Supreme Verdict in it already? I feel like I need more removal against all those aggressive Mardus and Abzans.

Yep. So long as it's the first card you draw in the turn.
