It doesn't double mana.
As Caged Sun enters the battlefield, its controller chooses a color. Whenever its controller taps any land for mana of the chosen color, he or she gets one additional mana of that color.
For example, I play a Caged Sun, and I choose black as it enters the battlefield. Any time I tap any land for black, basic or nonbasic, I get one additional black mana.
Also, note that the land is not the source of the additional mana and therefore is not producing that mana. The effect of Caged Sun is adding the mana to your mana pool.

It won't double the mana output of lands that produce two or more mana, such as Dimir Aqueduct or Cabal Coffers .

He must choose a color, then if he adds mana to his mana pool of that color, he will get two of it. For example, if he chooses blue and taps an island he will get 2 mana off the one land tap. If he however taps a swamp he will only get 1 mana. The doubling also applies to non-basics if they are tapped for the color of mana that has been declared for Caged Sun
