Do tokens leaving the graveyard cause Syr Konrad’s ability to trigger?
Asked by MattParry 5 years ago
Alright Syr Konrad says “ Whenever another creature dies, or a creature card is put into a graveyard from anywhere other than the battlefield, or a creature card leaves your graveyard, Syr Konrad, the Grim deals 1 damage to each opponent.” I want to focus on the ”or a creature card leaves your graveyards” portion. Tokens technically go to the graveyard, but then are immediately removed does this cause the trigger to happen twice?

In addition to what Gidetimer said:
Tokens can never leave the graveyard - in fact, they cannot even ENTER it.
Tokens cease to exist the moment they change from the Battlefield zone to anywhere else. For the same reason they cannot be returned to your hand or anthing!
Even though you might use pieces of cardboard printed by WoTC to represent them - tokens are not "cards".

edit: whooops nevermind, they actually can enter the GY, but the rest of what we/I said is true ;)

Exactly. The tokens can actually enter your graveyard, library, hand, or exile, but then when state-based actions are checked the game notes that there are tokens in a zone other than the battlefield and those tokens promptly cease to exist (they don't leave, so leaving-graveyard triggers won't trigger).

Please link all cards in your question using double brackets.
Syr Konrad, the Grim
Token creatures are not creature cards. You will get the trigger for the creature dying and no other triggers.
