Do planes walkers return damage?

Asked by Andrew0568 13 years ago

Let's say all I have out is a Jace, Memory Adept and my opponent attacks with a 2/2 creature. Does the planes walker do any damage to the attacking creature?

No. The creature is attacking a planeswalker. It is similar to attacking you. Planeswalkers only have loyalty counters. Technically you play as a planeswalker as well, but you can cast a spell to bring out a planeswalker (backstory speaking). So thinking of it that way you can't do damage to a creature yourself. So neither could Jace

No. The only things that can deal combat damage are creatures, and planeswalkers can only deal noncombat damage if you use one of their loyalty abilities and that ability causes it to do damage.

The only time a planeswalker will deal combat damage is if it somehow both a planeswalker and a creature, such as Gideon Jura after the activation of his 0 ability or a Tezzeret, Agent of Bolas + Liquimetal Coating combo.
