Do I actually become dangerous to touch?

Asked by legendofa 6 years ago

I have a token created by Handy Dandy Clone Machine out, and I'm using my own hand as the token. In response to me casting Gimme Five, my hand gets Cytoshaped into a Vile Bile. (These are the sort of combos we come up with for casual play.) Does anyone who high fives me while in an Un-game gain 1 life, then lose 2?

Vile Bile only cares about players in your game. So, each player who high fives you in another game would gain one life; each player in your game would gain one, lose two.

Thanks, cdkime. This scenario hasn't come up yet, but I'm ready for when (not if) it does.

There are some other interpretations and things to consider that came to my mind. Since this is Un-land, do whatever you think makes the most sense and/or is the most fun for everyone involved.

  • Only the token hand is a Vile Bile, so players should only lose life from touching that one. If they high-five your other hand then they would just gain life.

  • If you raise your token hand in a "high-five" gesture then the token will cease to exist, so they shouldn't lose life in that case either. If you keep it in the two-fingers pose then that arguably doesn't count as a high-five if they touch you, so in that case they would just lose life and not gain any.

  • The skin of your wrist/forearm is touching the token, so do you lose 2 life over and over again until you're out of the game? I think the official rulings on this say that the player can't be forced to touch it (i.e. you can't chase someone around the room with it to make them lose life) so maybe that means this isn't an issue.

Rhadamanthus We can always expect a lively debate about these rules interpretations. Especially if the deck with Frankie Peanuts and Question Elemental? shows up.
