Do creatures that return to battle have summoning sickness

Asked by noahbellboa 9 years ago

okay trying to make a vensor deck here, and want to know if i have a card like Stonehorn Dignitary if i bounce it out of play and back into play with Venser, the Sojourner will stonehorn have summoning sickness again, or will it be as though it never left the field

Creatures that leave and return to the battlefield are always treated as new cards with no relation to their previous existence. They will have summoning sickness, but in Venser, the Sojourner 's case that doesn't really matter because they do not return until the end of the turn.

Ah, well if you're curious about the rule here ya go:

400.7 An object that moves from one zone to another becomes a new object with no memory of, or relation to, its previous existence.

There are exceptions if you wanna look in to them, but they all have to do with explicit effects that track or affect a single move across zones. They're fairly obvious. For example, Rancor's ability must track it between the battlefield and the graveyard for it to work.
