Damia+Thought Reflection question

Asked by Fairseas 10 years ago

How does Damia, Sage of Stone interact with Thought Reflection ?

I found an article saying "Damia has you draw cards if you have fewer than 7. Thought Reflection has a replacement effect that makes you draw 2 cards for every 1 you would draw.

So, for example, if you have 2 cards at the beginning of your upkeep, Damia's triggered ability would cause you to draw 5 cards. However, due to Thought Reflection's replacement effect, you will end up drawing 10 cards instead."

I just want to verify if this was correct.

Damia's ability checks how many cards you have and how many cards you need to draw once, when it resolves. So yeah, it would do the check and then say "draw 5 cards". then when you go to draw that cards, Thought Reflection's replacement effect would kick in and you would draw 10 cards. (refer here)

"608.2g If an effect requires information from the game (such as the number of creatures on the battlefield), the answer is determined only once, when the effect is applied."

awesome thank you for your input. I am stripping a bunch of decks and wanting to build Damia as of now. Trying to break her without combos

Comboless Damia doesn't exist. Its just a myth :P

One thing I always wanted to try was a Damia discard deck. Things like Words of Waste to make her really silly.

It will exist haha . See now that is just awesome. I recently had alot of luck running Greel, Mind Raker in my Karador, Ghost Chieftain.

Seems pretty rough. For group discard though, I prefer to use things like Lore Broker + Geth's Grimoire where you can get benefit form everyone at once. but yeah, some targetted discard is crucial.

I had a Greel EDH deck and Geth's Grimoire was nasty in it. That's what inspired to throw it in Karador. It was slow, but it definitely worked well against blue players. Anything else for Damia?

Do you know what you want as a basis for the deck? If you post up a list and link it here, I can recommend some things along the theme you're going for.

alright. I am stripping all my decks now. I will post the link once I get an idea. It will probably be good stuff with Damia being amazing utility.
