Cyclone summon and Cloning
Asked by Alegaard 3 years ago
So I have Cyclone Summoner on the battlefield and I I cast Phyrexian Metamorph targeting The summoner. Does the cyclonic effect happen or no. I've been told no because of reasons but if someone could explain it I would appreciate it. Are there other cards that would allow the effect to happen? Rite of Replication ?

To start with, Rite of Replication and other token effects would not work, because the token copies were not cast from your hand (or at all).
As far as I know, the Cyclone Summoner + Phyrexian Metamorph interaction should work fine. Metamorph and other clones don't target or use the stack to copy; you choose a creature as it's entering the battlefield and it enters as a copy of that creature, triggering any ETB abilities it now has in the process. Since Phyrexian Metamorph is now a Cyclone Summoner and you did cast it from your hand, the trigger should work.
