Coppied spell color and Circu, Dimir Lobotomist
Asked by oltskul 14 years ago
hi, Ive got two questions.
1) Iam going to cast Isochron Scepter and ill imprint ie:Countersquall ..
with Circu, Dimir Lobotomist on table I am going to activate Isochron Scepter s ability, thus plaing that spel. Will Circu, Dimir Lobotomist s abbility trigerr for both colors, or it wont activate at all?
2) If i exile some cards with Circu, Dimir Lobotomist . These cards will be still exiled, if Circu, Dimir Lobotomist leaves play?

Note that while you can activate Isochron's ability, you cannot cast the Countersquall copy without having a legal target for it. (I.e. there must be a counterable spell on the stack for you to cast the copy).

the cards exiled with circu will remain exiled but they can cast spell with the same name as those cards because the static effect only remains while circu is in play.

achuly if you look closy and the Circu, Dimir Lobotomist and Isochron Scepter circus ability doesnt activate unless you play ie. cast from your hand and the scepter puts a copy of the imprinted onto the stack tageting a legle target of your choise, if there are no legal targets the ability fisils but the septer is still tapped
so in short the combo does not work since your not playing a blue or black spell, your just putting a copy of ones abillity onto the stack.
as for the cards exiled with circu, exiled cards stay exiled unless what ever exiled them give a condition in witch they return to play

Actually actually, the way Isochron Scepter works means the imprinted spell IS cast. What the scepter does when you activate its ability is create a copy of whatever is imprinted in the exile zone, then give you the option of casting that copy from exile. This seems like it goes against what normally happens to copies of things which aren't on the stack or the battlefield, but that's how Oracle says it works so I'm rolling with it.

1) Yes, since Isochron Scepter does actually allow you to cast the spell. Both of Circu's triggered abilities trigger when you cast a blue and black spell.
2) The cards stay exiled, but the effect which stops your opponents from casting spells ends. Even if you get Circu back on the field, his ability won't be applied to those particular cards any more, and you'll have to start all over again.
