"Copiable Values" and creating tokens with Mimic Vat

Asked by slashx24 12 years ago

Am I correct in thinking that when a Mimic Vat is imprinted with a creature and used to create a copy of that creature, the token that is created is an exact copy - ie it has the same mana cost as the original card and can be used to sacrifice to Birthing Pod to continue up the chain? Normal tokens are different to this "copy", and so as rule 706.2 states that mana cost is a copiable value, it is possible?

You are right when you copie a card it copies everything about the card: Mana Cost,P/T,Abilities and Name(Artist and Art for Unhinged) unless otherwise stated on the card. therefore you can chain it up with birthing pod. I have seen it done with Mimic Vat and the same goes for Clone type creatures.

Yup. Mana cost is a copiable value, and things will work as described

If it is an exact copy of a card then it would still have the same CMC. (Converted Mana Cost) so yes, you may sacrifice it to Birthing Pod .
