Confused about protection

Ok, so if i have a creature that has protection from blue such as Mistcutter Hydra and my opponent uses Supreme Verdict does it affect the mistcutter if so why.

Mistcutter Hydra will be destroyed by Supreme Verdict . Protection from blue means: this cannot be targeted, damaged, blocked, equipped, or enchanted by blues spells, permanents, or abilities from blue sources. You can remember this by using the mnemonic "DEBT - Damage, Enchant/Equip, Block, Target."

@Theplusone: It's worth mentioning that protection does more than stop targeting. For example, Anger of the Gods can't wipe a creature with protection from red because protection also prevents damage.
