Can you return to hand a Creature you just discarded or sacrificed, with Dark Intimations?

Let's say I choose to discard Torrential Gearhulk as part of Dark Intimations.
When it comes time to return a Creature or Planeswalker to my hand, can I then choose the Torrential Gearhulk I just discarded?
I think I can because everything in the card happens in the order it is written.
Ah sorry.
I read the card wrong as I was playing it.
All good.

why would you be sacrificing or discarding your own stuff to a Dark Intimations? did you even read the card?

First things first: Dark Intimations only makes the caster's opponents discard and sacrifice, and only lets the caster return something to their hand. The situation you describe can't actually happen (unless we introduce several other unusual cards).
In general: If a spell doesn't specifically make you choose a target for part of its effect while casting it, that means you're supposed to make the decision for that part of the effect as the spell resolves. You're allowed to choose something that wasn't in a certain zone when you started casting the spell but moved there during an earlier step of resolving the spell.
