Can you name Nameless Race?

Can you use Meddling Mage or other cards to name Nameless Race ?Oracles says it's nameless.

Yes you may name him.

Meddling Mage and such only care about the name of the card, and Nameless Race certainly has a name. Nameless Race has no creature type, like merfolk or human.

Its creature type is nameless. The card itself still has a name, and therefore can be named with cards like Meddling Mage .

When the rules note in Gatherer says "This currently has no creature type. It's Nameless." that doesn't mean it doesn't have a name. Because creatures are often given subtypes in a "[Race] [Class]" format, the comment in the rules note is just a humorous/playful way of explaining why Nameless Race doesn't have a creature type.

Out of curiosity, is this the only creature in Magic that doesn't have a subtype?

It's the only one I can think of. The current policy is that every creature has at least one subtype and that they make sense with respect to its name and art. This wasn't always the case, but there was a "Grand Creature Type Update" many years ago that went back and fixed things. Nameless Race got its type removed in the Update because dammit, that's funny.
