Can I Stifle the "If it's your turn, end the turn." clause on Day's Undoing?

Asked by bonkpoppin 8 years ago

So I have been playing a Yidris deck based around wheels featuring Day's Undoing. What i'm wondering is; does the "If it's your turn" clause on Day's Undoing mean that part of the card is a triggered ability and so can be countered with Stifle in order to prevent the turn ending?

To my understanding triggered abilities are those with a trigger condition (If it is your turn,) and effect (end the turn.). Do I have this understanding wrong or is it something else entirely?

Your understanding is a bit off. A triggered ability is always written to start with one of the words "when", "whenever", or "at". Day's Undoing doesn't have any triggered abilities, so Stifle doesn't interact with it.

Any type of ability or spell effect can have a clause that checks some condition, but that doesn't turn it into a triggered ability.

Rhadamanthus, thank you for the quick answer.

However, I am curious, is there any way of negating a clause like that. (apart of course from casting it with flash during your opponent's turn via Leyline of Anticipation like cards) or is there no way of negating it?

there is no way to negate a specific clause on a spell like that.
