can i protect myself against counters abusing split second?

I recently heard of holding priority, so i wondered if you could play a spell, hold priority and play a spell with split-seond so nobody can react or counter the spell you first played.

No, once the split second spell has resolved players will have the opportunity to add spells to the stack again, and those would take affect before the spell you are trying to protect resolves.

No you can't do that, sorry to burst your bubble. This how priority works, using these examples of spells

Main phase 1:
You cast a spell Lightning Bolt for example, and then hold priority.
You cast a split second spell Sudden Death for example, players cannot respond to it so it resolves.
Now you have priority again over Lightning Bolt , you cast nothing and pass priority.
You opponent can now respond to Lightning Bolt . Lets say they cast Counterspell .
Counterspell enters the stack, you now have priority and you don't respond
Priority passes back to your opponent, he/she doesn't add anything else to the stack.
Lightning Bolt is then countered and doesn't resolve.

The stack is now empty

You now have priority again, you cast nothing
Your opponent has priority now, they cast nothing
You now enter combat phase.
