Can I kick cards played with Mosswort Bridge's ability?

Asked by jstache93 13 years ago

For example, if I exile my Wolfbriar ElementalMTG Card: Wolfbriar Elemental with Mosswort BridgeMTG Card: Mosswort Bridge, can I still pay its kicker cost and get wolf tokens when Mosswort Bridge's second ability resolves?

play is errata of cast, and since mosswort casts it without its mana cost yes, you can pay the kicker cost.

Yep, papabearcia1 has it. Since Kicker is an additional cost, you can pay it when casting (or 'playing' on older cards) it no matter what alternative (in this case, nothing) cost you are paying. Another example is Phyrexian ScutaMTG Card: Phyrexian Scuta and Rooftop StormMTG Card: Rooftop Storm.

It is important to mention that the kicker still has to be paid if you wish to kick it. Alternative Costs don't cover Additional Costs.

kicker, multikicker, and entwine may all be paid for even when you are casting the spell in question for free.
