Can Desecretion Demon be tapped in this situation?

Hello. I'm a bit confused about using Mimic Vat's 2nd ability with Desecration Demon imprinted. If I make Desecration Demon's token after beginning of combat (but before Declare Attackers Step of course), can it still be tapped by his 2nd ability?

I think it's similar to Mimic Vat's ruling: "If Mimic Vats second ability is activated during a turns end step, the token will be exiled at the beginning of the following turns end step."

Desecration Demon's trigger condition will have already passed, so the ability will not trigger and it can attack just fine.
