Bloodchief Ascension and Instants/Sorceries
Asked by Obahai 13 years ago
When Bloodchief Ascension has 2+ charges on it and my opponent casts a lighting-bolt or Mind Funeral does that mean the opponent loses 2 life and I gain 2?

Your Bloodchief Ascension will trigger when their spell finishes resolving. When you resolve a spell, you do everything the spell says to do and then the final action is putting that card into the graveyard.
This could be important if both players are at low life totals: If you're at 3 life and your opponent is at 2, they will win the game by casting Lightning Bolt : Their spell resolves, dealing 3 damage to you, your Bloodchief Ascension triggers, and as soon as you get priority to respond to the trigger (or let it resolve) State-Based Actions are checked and you lose.

yes, because the instant/sorcery hits the graveyard from the stack.
