Beast within an indestructable

Asked by Demarge 13 years ago

lets say my opponent makes a misplay and uses Beast Within on my Mirran Crusader while I have a Knight Exemplar out, will I get the beast token still even though the Mirran Crusader wasn't destroyed?

Indestructible prevents permanents from being removed from the battlefield by 'destroy' effects, and it prevents creatures from dying by having lethal damage marked on them. Since Beast Within says to destroy, it won't be able to kill an indestructible creature.

You are right though that you will get a beast token. Beast Within will try to destroy it anyways, and if the target is still legal when the spell resolves it'll do everything it can including creating a 3/3 token.
