Athreos Coin Counter Blink

Say I have a coin counter from Athreos, Shroud-Veiled on one of my opponent's creatures. If I cast Flickerwisp targeting the creature with a coin counter, the creature will be exiled and then returned to my battlefield because of Athreos' ability. However, at the next end step, will the creature be returned back under its owner's control? Or will that effect fizzle because the creature is no longer where Flickerwisp left it?

Once the creature returns to the battlefield it is a new object with no memory of being in exile. Flickerwisp's delayed trigger ability will not be able to find it to return.
