Aetherflux Reservoir - Question

Aetherflux Reservoir - Rulings:
9/20/2016 The first ability counts the spell that caused it to trigger plus any other spells you cast earlier in the turn.
9/20/2016 The first ability counts spells you cast earlier in the turn even if you didn’t control Aetherflux Reservoir as you cast them, and even if those spells were countered.
9/20/2016 The number of spells you’ve cast is counted only as Aetherflux Reservoir’s triggered ability resolves. For example, if you cast a spell, then respond to the triggered ability with a second spell, you’ll gain 4 life total.
9/20/2016 Aetherflux Reservoir’s first ability doesn’t trigger when you cast Aetherflux Reservoir itself.
Question:
If Aetherflux Reservoir does not gain you a life on it's own cast but does count all spells cast that turn even when Aetherflux Reservoir wasn't in play, does it still count itself as a cast spell for turn even though the life gain doesn't trigger?
cast a spell (1 cast no trigger),
cast Aetherflux (2 cast no trigger),
cast another spell (3 cast trigger) +3 Life,
cast another spell (4 cast trigger) +4 Life.
You should gain 7 life correct? and so on ( # of spells cast this turn +1 = life gain per cast that resolves while Aetherflux in play)
Maybe I am just over thinking it but just wanted to be sure of the triggers and the life gain mechanic before I use it in events. Thank you in advance you guys always come through with info I am looking for.

Thank you, the ruling where it says it's first ability doesn't trigger I wasn't sure if it was just the life gain part of it or the cast precursor as well. Thanks for clarifying.

It's specifically because in order for Aetherflux Reservoir to trigger, it must be on the battlefield. Its first ability triggers when you cast a spell.
So when you cast the Reservoir, it's not on the battlefield yet to trigger (because you only just cast it; it's still on the stack). This is why the ability doesn't net you lifegain for casting the Reservoir. It still counts as casting a spell, though, so subsequent spells cast that turn with the Reservoir on the battlefield (not still on the stack) will count casting the Reservoir.

Yes, the turn you cast Aetherflux it will count itself as a spell cast that turn.
