2HG and new Legendary/Planeswalker Rules

Asked by linkofhyrule 11 years ago

Is each member of a Two-Headed team allowed their own copy of the same Legendary permanent/Planeswalker subtype on the field at the same time under the new rules, or is it one per team? Some Legendaries would be awesomely overpowered if facing down two...

Team mates in a 2HG game are considered separate players. therefor, you each get control of your own planeswalker.

With the current version of the explanation we've been given for the upcoming rules change, each player on a team would be able to have their own copy/version of the same legend/planeswalker. It's possible that a modification could be added to the 2HG rules to only allow one per team, but as of right now no one with any authority over the CR has said anything like that.

This would be awesome! I would love to have 2 control decks/superfriends be able to play the same "bombs"

Yes. The new rule states that only the players own board is checked when determining if another legendary creature with the same name is on the battlefield and thus would not notice any identical legendary creatures on your teammates board, since you and your teammate are considered two seperate players in 2HG, or either of your opponents board. Same story with planeswalkers.

Haha. You'd still have to watch out for Psychic Spiral and Witchbane Orb but that would be pretty sick.

Just be aware of the 2HG rule that states that your team may have no more than 4 copies of any singular card in your combined decks.
