Listen my friends, and I shall tell,
The story, the saga, of Elspeth Tirel.
How she rose from the grave, but first how she fell,
As the Sun’s Champion, I know it well

Just a young girl from an unknown plane,
Imprisoned and tortured by Phyrexians.
As her tormentor came to torment her one day,
Her spark ignited, she planeswalked away

She landed on Theros, and looked up to the sky,
Where a battle of gods occurred ‘fore her eyes.
They dropped a sword, which happened to land,
In front of Elspeth, who took it in hand.

“This is no place for a person like me,
I must find a home to live peacefully.
I’d like to stay here, but I know that I can’t,”
So she planeswalked away, and landed on Bant.

On Bant she became a squire, then Knight,
For it still was a plane that needed her fight.
She soon met Ajani, who warned of a war,
But for Elspeth, more than just that was in store.

The Conflux began, and Bant was attacked,
Elspeth’s friend was killed, her city was sacked.
But something within Elspeth finally snapped,
She unleashed her full powers, and repelled the attack.

Feeling ashamed of what she had become,
She planeswalked away when the fighting was done.
To Old Dominaria, she planeswalked in strife,
Intending to mope for the rest of life.

Needing some money for shelter and food,
She fought in the pits, it did match her mood.
There Ajani found her, in a gladiator pit,
He gave her her armour, and said “snap out of it!”

She half-took the advice of the friendly leonin,
And went on a mission with Koth to Mirrodin.
Koth’s home was in trouble, he needed her aid,
They first picked up Vensor, and planeswalked away.

On Mirrodin, Elpseth was shocked to learn,
That Phyrexians were there, and her fear did return.
But she conquered her fear, and joined in the fight,
She slew many, so great was her might.

Their mission was to find the one they called Karn,
The journey was perilous, and caused them all harm.
At the end of their quest they found him, near-dead,
Vensor gave Karn his spark, and died in his stead.

Elspeth was determined to finish the fight,
Koth made a spell bomb, which they thought just might,
Blow the phyrexian leaders up in one go,
They just had to plant it where they wouldn’t know.

The plan that they made went horribly awry,
And many of their Mirrodin friends did die.
Koth took the bomb, and Elspeth, she ran,
But not before she was injured by a phyrexian.

She woke up on Theros, and caused quite a stir,
For God-Sword she stole, she still carried with her.
The God Heliod, he wanted it back,
He attempted to take it but she repelled his attack.

He feared the sword, and her power, it’s true,
But he said “I could use a champion like you.”
She fought a great hydra, and eventually won,
So Heliod made her the Sun’s Champion.

She learned from the God and befriended Daxos,
And met the false god, a satyr, Xenegos.
And while she and Daxos fell in love at last,
Xenegos tricked her into killing him, alas!

Reunited with Ajani, they set out to fix,
The Xenegos problem, they had to find Nyx.
At the edge of the world they found it at last,
But only continued after a trial was passed.

In Nyx, Elspeth and Ajani had a fate to decide,
They fought Xenegos, and there was deicide.
But after the battle, in a cowardly attack,
Heliod stole Elspeth’s sword, and stabbed her in the back.

To the underworld she went, in Erebos’ care,
But her destiny was not to remain there.
For Ashiok was there and tortured her mind,
But more than just dreams was in there to find.

Out of a nightmare Elspeth snatched Shadowspear,
And escaped from the underworld, as well as her fear.
She rallied and army against Heliod,
And then fought and defeated the treacherous God.

In exchange for Heliod, his old enemy,
Erebos told Elspeth that she could be free.
She said bye to Daxos, for she couldn’t stay,
So she packed up her spear, and planeswalked away.

So there is the story of Elspeth Tirel,
Though be sure to remember there is more to tell.
as the story continues, I’ll follow it well,
But for now, my friends, I bid you farewell!

This format is literally more entertaining and gripping than anything WoTC has put out in years.

I was hoping that now that the snow is gone I would be able to tap on neighbors' Springfields. Sadly, I cannot. I can tap on the Other Springfield and just one random friend. Of course I complained to EA, but got the standard reply. Two weeks later... nothing. I've been playing for over five years and have spent too much money on this game. I feel like EA just doesn't give a shit and I'm bummed that my friends think I've abandoned them. Sad.

I know you're all about Elspeth, but you're channeling a bit of Huatli, Warrior Poet more than anything here.

Nice job, it was a fun read!

A fine effort. And far better command of the written word than has been exhibit of late by WotC’s pathetic staff writers. I enjoyed this immensely — thank you.

Magnificent, truly it's a shame that we didn't get something more akin to this in official material rather than a half-hearted "summary" and some card highlight blips.
