amishrambo says... #3

in hindsight this is more of a lore question but what im asking is how does this thing exsist?

August 22, 2013 4:43 p.m.

HarbingerJK says... #4

u mean how does an artifact enchantment exist?

August 22, 2013 4:45 p.m.

amishrambo says... #5

indeed

August 22, 2013 4:47 p.m.

HarbingerJK says... #6

I guess it's an artifact that has been enchanted to give off magical power? lol

August 22, 2013 4:49 p.m.

pookypuppy6 says... #7

Artifact enchantment I guess is an enchanted artifact...although that isn't entirely satisfactory since you can enchant artifacts in the game (e.g: Artificer's Hex ), which makes it the above description but not using one card... umm...

I dunno, its an artifact with enchantment-like powers or an enchantment that takes a physical form of an artifact.

hence my confusion

August 22, 2013 4:53 p.m.

HarbingerJK says... #9

or wizards wants to make more artifacts so they were like "you kno what'd be cool, are artifact enchantment! oooh aaahh" lol

August 22, 2013 4:56 p.m.

erabel says... #10

Well, the gods' creations are enchantments (according to the lore they already gave us), and weapon-y things are usually artifacts. So there ya go. There's like a blacksmith-type god for red, so what he "smiths" are enchantments, and also technically artifacts because smithing.

amishrambo says... #11

whats next a legendary sorcery land?

August 22, 2013 4:57 p.m.

Fleetfiend says... #12

I imagine it's something like a "totem" for lack of a better word. An item (artifact) that when held/interacted with/something can grant powers/do things (enchantment).

HarbingerJK says... #13

"every time you tap this land for mana, exile target card in a graveyard"

Sorcery land doesn't even begin to work because sorceries aren't permanents and lands are. And what's so confusing about an artifact enchantment. They do a LOT of the same things, give or take.

August 22, 2013 5:20 p.m.

pookypuppy6 says... #18

I'd like to see an Instant Sorcery. Or a Creature Equipment. Imagine equipping a goblin with another goblin! :D

August 22, 2013 5:21 p.m.

SharuumNyan says... #19

@Fleetfiend I didn't even know that was a thing! :0

August 22, 2013 5:23 p.m.

erabel says... #20

pookypuppy6, if creatures become equipment or vice versa, if they become equipped, they fall off (I think as a SBA, but not sure).

August 22, 2013 5:24 p.m.

Rhadamanthus says... #21

Enchantments are concepted as permanent effects that are purely magical, and artifacts are physical items that are often (but not always) infused with some kind of magical power. To me, an enchantment artifact is something that's actually made entirely out of condensed/solidified magical power.

August 22, 2013 5:26 p.m.

pookypuppy6 says... #22

@erabel: I propose the idea of an" Instant Sorcery" which in itself has a humongous flaw, and instead of ramming that in the eye socket, you school me on the actual rulings for "Creature Equipment"

...Respect! :$

August 22, 2013 5:35 p.m.

erabel says... #23

Well, if "Instant Sorcery" were a thing, I'd just make Instant a supertype and give everything with flash that supertype. So many errata, but it'd be worth it.

erabel says... #24

For the record,

301.5c An Equipment thats also a creature cant equip a creature. An Equipment that loses the subtype Equipment cant equip a creature. An Equipment cant equip itself. An Equipment that equips an illegal or nonexistent permanent becomes unattached from that permanent but remains on the battlefield. (This is a state-based action. See rule 704.)

If you break it down, the enchantment part of it is the Scroll Thief ability, and the artifact accounts for the tap ability, since Wizards doesn't do enchantments that tap (Future Sight doesn't count). Also, per the planeswalker's guide to Theros I think we will likely find that the name of this card is "Dekella, Bident of Thassa."

August 22, 2013 6 p.m.

If any of you are aware of the lore of the upcoming Theros block.. Theros will be an enchantment block. It is said that The gods themselves are living enchantments. For this reason, all enchantments are thought to be gifts from the godsa unique form of magic enabled by divinities. Each god has their own weapon with names. so it only makes sense that their weapons would be part enchantments as well.

If you read the Planeswalker's guide to theros Part 1, it states that gods are living enchantments and It gives a whole bunch of art and flavor for Weapons like this one. Here is the Link.

Multiple types just makes this thing twice as easy to kill.

With lots of enchants I think Merciless Eviction will see a lot more play too.

The way we're going, the next block, we're going to get cards with the type Artifact Creature- Aura, or Legendary Sorcery. You just wait. Or maybe they'll bring Interrupts back.
