Populate, as in tokens? I keep a few Echoing Truth around for that, as it bounces all permanents with the same name, for instance, ALL Saproling tokens, and a token obviously doesn't go back to the hand, so it destroys them. That's just an example of one card though.

This question is better suited for the forums. Q&A section deals with rules related questions.

Also, there is no general answer to this question. If you want to beat a token deck, try and focus on things that somehow interact with tokens. If you want to play black, Illness in the Ranks could be one of your cards (but it's rather weak in my opinion). You could use also Mutilate . If you want to run red, you can try and build a fast weenie deck with Legion Loyalist that will prevent your opponent's tokens from blocking, while you use burn spells like Searing Spear and Mizzium Mortars to get rid of other pesky creatures. Possibilities are vast.

Also Homing Lightning deals with tokens splendidly. They all share a name, as Alonzo has pointed out.

The examples I'm providing are all for standard (type 2) format. If you're playing modern or something else, the pool of cards you can choose from is enormous.

I mean, they share the name if they have been populated. If a card says "put a 3/3 green Beast creature token onto the battlefield", it creates a token named Beast (also with the type Beast). So if you target one Beast token with Homing Lightning , all other Beast tokens will be affected too.

Do you have a specific format in mind or is this just casual?

I second Illness in the Ranks and Homing Lightning if you're just getting into Magic. Both these cards are easy to find. Illness in the Ranks is especially brutal against tokens.
