so if you Birthing Pod a Chimeric Mass for example, you can search for 1 more than you paid its summon so can you search for another chimeric mass in ur library with 1+ for the x? Whats the rules on this? so like u cast chimeric mass as a 2 summon for example, can you birth pod it and search and summon another chimeric mass for 3?
You cannot grab Chimeric Mass with the pod because it is does not have a creature type and sub-type, it is just an artifact until made a creature. I do agree with the above statement though.

That is correct. Chimeric Mass's CMC is 0, so you will search your library with a CREATURE of CMC 1. Chimeric Mass is not a creature while in the library, so it is not a viable target anyway.

By 'that is correct,' I was referring to the previous replies.

To be 100% technical, Chimeric Mass 's converted mana cost is zero at all times EXCEPT when it is a spell on the stack. At that point, the converted mana cost is equal to the chosen value for X.
202.3b When calculating the converted mana cost of an object with an X in its mana cost, X is treated as 0 while the object is not on the stack, and X is treated as the number chosen for it while the object is on the stack.

okay can you search for Primordial Hydra creature with x+1 you sacked another one. chimeric mass isn't a creature so bad example on my part.
okay so pwnage packy you cannot search for Primordial Hydra you are paying 0 for its x, so u can sack a cmc 1 creature and pull out the hydra with the Birthing Pod with 0 as its x? (ignore that if it has 0 toughness it immediately dies) I'm just seeing how i can birth pod x cmc creatures out. thanks guys

Yes, you can. X isn't counted as part of the cmc anywhere but the stack, so while in your library Primordial Hydra 's cmc will be 2.

okay so i CAN'T take out a hydra if i birth podded a 3 summon and make the hydra's x=2. i can only pay 0 for its x. i understand thanks guys.

X is considered 0 when outside effects occur on it, so if you sac'd the mass to pod while it's a creature you'd tutor for a CMC 1. Anybody correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe that in converted mana cost X is considered to be 0
