Trade Value Question: HP Revised Bayou

Hey guys! I have a trade offer, I'm not sure how to value HP cards. Here's the potential trade:

1 HP Revised Bayou

For my

Eidolon of the Great Revel FOIL - 24.99

Eidolon of the Great Revel - 7.33

Siege Rhino FOIL - 26.85

Sacred Foundry - 10.99

3x Deathrite Shaman - 8.11

Tasigur (incoming) - 8.26

2x Master Biomancer - 3.00

3x Temple of Deceit - 2.63

Total - $113.64

How do you value you this? Is it fair? Should I jump on it?

I'm tempted to say no, just because I make it a point to try to avoid HP high value cards. They're harder to move, which makes them a sub-par investment. And ultimately with a card that's that expensive, that's exactly what it is, an investment. But in this case, you're trading a bunch of smaller cards into it, and a good deal of those cards will probably lose value in time. Ultimately I think its a pretty good trade from a value perspective, but I don't think I would do it personally, just because I stay away from HP cards. Really up to you though.

Will you be using the Bayou? If yes, do the trade. If no, then don't bother. It's hard to trade away HP cards, but you can still get mileage with it if you are putting it in a deck.

Have you actually seen the card in person? With that much edge wear, I might be concerned about its playability.

No I haven't seen it in person and I wouldn't be using it for play just for trade fodder.

I don't think you should go for it personally. not with the shape that card is in. with those old cards you want them as nice as possible and might one of the reasons the other person is willing to trade such....odd cards for it

If its purely for trade fodder, I would probably stay away. Like I said above, HP cards can be pretty hard to move. Most traders won't want it, unless you offer a significant discount.

If the bayou is tournament legal I'd go for it.

You're trading a bunch of modern staples in foil for a legacy and vintage staple that will never be printed again. Seems cool to me.

Then again the most expensive cards I own are my playset of MP Darksteel Aether Vials, so this is a much bigger trade than I'd ever have the resources for.

I'd do it in this case because you're trading away fairly ephemeral value for something much more lasting. Even though it's much harder to move HP eternal cards, ABUR duals are still in demand, and the cards you're losing aren't that much to give up for one. You are losing Deathrite Shamans, but overall you're still in a decent position.

Epochalyptik Should I remove 2 Deathrites and put in a F Monastery Swiftpear instead? (They're happy with either or, so what's best for me?)

I like to point out that your end comes up to 116.64. And seeing as I could get a moderately played one for the same amount of $ i would not buy it. I know you are not buying it, but I try to access the trade value of a card with lots of wear in the same manner of would I buy it for that much. As in this case, i would not. But as Epoc stated, it is a sought after cards, and you are not giving up a lot of eternal value for it.

the foil swiftspear won't be worth as much as one deathrite if the deathrites get unbanned in modern (which may or may not ever happen)

March 20, 2015 1:20 a.m.

Many people who trade eternal staples like to use SCG or higher end TCG values, so $110-120 is pretty decent for Bayou, even at HP.

As for the DRS/Swiftspear call, that's up to you.

I would do it. I would hold the deathrites if possible. Either way, it is not normal to find trades like this with 25%ish value the highest you are giving up.

I'd do it in a heartbeat, you're getting a great deal. HP or not, the cards you're trading are far less valuable/attainable than any original dual. Worst case you could probably sell it on eBay for around the same value as the cards you're trading away. Some people are just too damn picky about condition, I wouldn't listen to them on this one.

Psst, ZooGambler! If it's any consolation, I will be willing to trade for it if you can't move it to anyone else. Jus' saying.

Thanks for all the help guys! I think I'll follow through with it! (with Swiftspear vs 2 deathrites)
