So im sure everyone has heard the rumors about fetches being reprinted. if the onslaught fetches are reprinted, will their prices skyrocket? they would then be available to standard and modern players, so they would be in huge demand, right?

Its honestly really hard to predict. Assuming they are reprinted, its very possible the demand will skyrocket beyond what the new printings will be able to handle, and they will go up in price. However, I also know lots of people who don't like the old bordered cards, and if given the choice between the original printings and new printings with new borders, they would take the new every time. So its possible the old printings won't be worth as much as the new. This could actually hurt the value of the old, if people decide they like the new printings better and thus aren't willing to pay as much for the older printings. Regardless, its hard for me to predict any reprints would rise above $50 while they are still in print and in standard, which would put them at significantly less value than the old ones currently. Again, this could mean a drop in the old printing's value. Its really all speculation, but I don't think a reprinting will be good for the value of the original printing.

I'm writing this in the assumption that they will reprint the onslaught fetches into modern.

if they reprint them in a block or godforbid (yay?) a core set, the prices of both sets will go down. depending on the set they are printed in, they probably drop down to about 30-40 each, which sounds stupid, but unless they hit a coreset, they aren't going to be as "worthless". coreset prints are statistically underpriced and therefore less appriciated. they will go back up again slowly around the drop of the 2nd set afterwards, which is roughly when wizards will stop printing the set they were released in.

if they get printed in something like conspiracy, im sure the price won't change too much. the older ones will stay the same, and the new ones will be low for a while, but just like modern masters, the second it's out of sales, it's gonna skyrocket.

If they reprint the Onslaught Fetches I hope it will be in a set exclusively for Modern, like Modern Masters II. If they get reprinted in a Core or Expansion-Set their prices will skyrocket. From being demanded in one format, they're suddenly demanded in the two most played formats right now. However it would release some pressure from the Zendikar fetches and their price might drop a bit, as you don't have to play off-color fetches in Modern anymore.

As for the price-speculations for the onslaught prints, my guess is that the old ones will maintain a higher value and jump in price, if they get reprinted for Modern and Standard. Just look at Thoughtseize. It's the same card but the THS-version is printed in higher numbers. Another good example would be the reprint of the shock-lands. The old versions contain a bit more value than the reprints.

The thing with modern masters prices is: the set was printed in low numbers from the get-go and former chase-rares were suddenly mythic. So the combination of low numbers and increased rarity makes it that Goyf, Clique, Bob and co are suddenly much more expensive in the MM-version than the original prints. Prices are all about supply and demand in Magic.

Prices would plummet. Sure they mighy go back up and the fetches will still have value but onslaught prices will drop drastically, look at thoughtseize, 1/2 the price and th new one is a 1/4 of the original pre reprint

@mckin: Although that is true, it is partly because it is still in print. Thoughtseize was already available to modern, the reprint meant more thoughtseizes were out there, therefore decreasing the value. the onslaught fetches are not available to modern. the demand for them would likely be huge, but their prices wouldn't dramatically increase until they rotate out of standard. I would agree with your statement if onslaught fetches were already in modern

What about the Zendikar fetches? What kind of price would they drop to, if they get reprinted?

The set would be printted to meet demand though, sure the initial price may be higher but deffinetly would drop, standard sets arnt a limited print run and people would be buying boat loads, increasing supply immenly and would be $10 lands like new shocks, maybe not 10 but example, some of the top decks wouldnt event nee them, uwr, uw twin, storm, pod could run windswept but it already has 8 on color so its not even huge boost

no, it isn't, but it could open the door for newer decks to be more successful. I understand what you are saying about shocks, but they are still in standard, and they were, again, already available to modern players before they were reprinted. once shocks are out of print, they will rise in price.

@TitansFTW: Zendikar fetches are already available to modern players, so my guess is they would drop quite a bit. the old shocks were around 30 a piece before they were reprinted. they are half that now. if ZEN fetches are reprinted, they will drop in value until they rotate out again.

The big difference between Thoughtseize and the fetches is that Thoughtseize original printing was new border. Again, that makes a huge difference to a lot of people. If given the choice, many people will prefer a reprinted set of fetches with new border over the originals with the old border, and then could hurt the originals' value.
