Jace, Vryn's Prodigy Flip - drop or not?

I want to get my hands on a few jaces, but I don't need them anytime soon. Personally, I think the 70 dollar price tag is RIDICULOUS, and I don't think it can sustain that price. Perhaps 30 or 40, but no where near where it is now. What do you guys think? (I understand that it's played in standard/modern)
I keep saying it will drop. It keeps going up. I think $70 is truly the ceiling unless it breaks modern and doesn't get banned. I think waiting is the safest bet though

It's going to hold steady for the moment, 5 of the Top 8 decks from the recent Open had 3-4 copies in the 75. The real factor is waiting to see how it preforms at the Pro-Tour. If Jace has a strong showing it could spike even more.

It's already fallen to around $60 on TCGPlayer. It was just a big buyout, if it performs well at the next Pro Tour, expect another one. If you do not need it right now, stay away from it for a while. It should rest around $30-40 before it rotates, it might go lower after that, but probably not much.

I would seriously expect it to drop, and I hope it does. 70 is crazy high, but he's in almost all of the blue decks right now. He was all over the place at the open this past weekend, which is just going to keep him deep within the meta everywhere. I expect him to drop eventually, but right now I bet he holds steady for a while. If blue does good things, like it should, at the Pro Tour then I bet he gets even higher for a while.

Question: you guys probably understand this more than me. I played against a lot of decks that run Jace lately. He never made an impact (usually soaks up a removal spell). What exactly is he doing in the standard and modern metas to warrant this price?

capriom85 he's an auto 4 of in almost every standard blue deck. And there are a lot of standard blue players. And not many jaces. Additionally, the excitement around the card has people holding on to their jaces when they would otherwise have traded them

In standard he is the cheapest and most consistent form of card draw. Not to mention he fuels delve spells that are not in other formats such as dig and cruise. In modern we have serum and other cheap draw spells but standard is a bit slow right now and he offers a bunch of extra draw. Thats all I got... can anyone else offer anything else?

He allows good card selection which is always good in blue, he allows some flashback and feeds Delve, he's played as a four-of, and finally, as you said, he eats removal without being an immediate threat.
Is the price kind of crazy? Yes. But he's a Swiss Army knife of value to Ux Control decks that only care about draining resources from the opponent and then playing their big threat when they're out of gas, while you have been sculpting your hand since T2. And he does this in every format and is a great play on almost any board b/c he costs 1U and makes every draw afterwards better.

I believe there was a rather large rant about this on another thread the other day. Lots of people saying if he becomes a big thing in modern then modern as a format will just shut him down. Reasons for this argument were that he dies to every single piece of removal. Other arguments from earlier were that he does not have a large impact and requires some work to get going. Some were saying they have let Jace live before and just ignored him and continued on to win. People were comparing him to Snapcaster Mage and saying snappy is much better for the same cmc. So yeah tons or reasons why he won't make it in modern but at the same time he is obviously useful. I just don't think he can retain that high of a price tag for long.
